The Technion Healthy Aging Center was launched!

On June 10, 2024 the THHI held a team building event for nucleating and developing research themes, in the form of ’round table meetings’.

ILASOL (Israel Society for Astrobiology and the Study of the Origin of Life) is an Israeli scientific society, devoted to perhaps the most profound riddles ever facing science – life’s origin and early evolution, and its existence and dispersal in the universe. Astrobiology has been established as a field of study a few decades ago, and the Israeli scientific community has been at its forefront ever since.

Natural learning and intelligence are commonly associated with the nervous system. Fundamentally, these processes entail complex systems coupled to their environment, that modify their own properties and often the environment’s, thereby attaining novel functionalities.

In the spirit of cross-faculty academic collaboration, a successful kickoff meeting was held for the communities of the Deloro Center.
Around 130 participants, including Technion President Prof. Uri Sivan, VP for Research Prof. Naama Agress, VP for Public Relations and Resource Development Prof. Wayne Kaplan, cross-faculty deans and academic unit deans, faculty members, administrators and graduate research students, filled every corner of the “Black Sheep” pub in the Student Center. This cross-faculty meeting aimed to encourage the formation of academic connections around shared themes and topics.

Life expectancy is consistently increasing thanks to progress in health care, science, and technology. However, longer lives have not meant an improved quality of life for the elderly. In response to this important global challenge, the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology has gathered researchers from different faculties in order to establish the Healthy Aging Center where they will address the growing disparity.

The Technion and Rambam Health Care Campus are setting up a new joint Technion-Rambam Center for Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare (Now called TERA) that will signal a revolution in medical decision-making. TERA, the first joint academic-hospital AI center in Israel and one of the first in the world, will develop advanced artificial intelligence systems to analyze a patient’s condition. The center will focus on developing tools that will help physicians select, in real time, the most appropriate and accurate medical treatment for a patient.
