Why Some Cancer Patients Respond to Immunotherapy While Others Don’t May Depend on What Happens Early in Treatment
On September 10, 2026, on the eve of the Jewish New Year, The President of the Technion, Prof. Uri Sivan and the CEO of Rambam Health Care Campus, Dr. Michal Mekel, signed an agreement on the operation of the Wolfe Center for Translational Medicine and Engineering, marking a milestone in the realization of this ambitious initiative.
The Wolfe Center for Translational Medicine and Engineering, made possible through the generosity of Andrea and Lawrence Wolfe, is an alliance between the Technion, a leading technological university, and the Rambam Health Care Campus, the largest health care center in the north of Israel with a long history of successful medical innovation.
The Center will serve as a vibrant research hot-spot based on tight integration of clinical practice, scientific research, and engineering within which entrepreneurial-minded physicians, health care professionals, scientists, engineers, students and individuals from local high-tech hubs, will identify needs and fast-track them to real world-solutions.
The signing ceremony was the culmination of intensive efforts made by scientists clinicians, administrators and legal teams from both institutions, that collaboratively outlined the operational, financial and legal aspects of the joint Center. The ceremony was attended by many of the individuals involved, including Technion and Rambam senior management
With the architectural planning phase completed and the signed agreement in place, the project has just advanced one step further toward the realization of the founders vision.
