Technion President’s Award for Exceptional Achievement Awarded to Prof. Yair Goldberg from the Faculty of Data and Decision Sciences
Prof. Yair Goldberg, a member of the Faculty of Data and Decision Sciences, received the Technion President’s Award for Exceptional Achievements this week for his life-saving contributions to human health during the COVID-19 pandemic. His critical, policy-shaping analyses of vaccination strategies led to Israel's decision to begin administering a booster dose to the elderly population, which dramatically reduced potential mortality and severe disease.
Prof. Goldberg, a biostatistician known for his expertise in statistical theory and applied research across public health domains, played a pivotal role as a lead statistician supporting policymaking for the Israeli Ministry of Health during the COVID-19 pandemic.
