The 1st Chrom@Tech Retreat

Eight multidisciplinary teams receive seed grants to promote academic and social initiatives addressing future human health challenges

As part of the preparatory phase for the future Human Health Building at the Technion, the Technion Human Health Initiative (THHI) is actively fostering multidisciplinary collaboration across faculties and research domains. To date, eight thematic research groups were formed and provided with funding to support team-building academic and social activities within their respective fields.

The program included short presentations by the PIs, who introduced the key research questions, experimental and computational approaches, and future directions being pursued in their labs. This was complemented by a one-on-one “speed-dating” session that enabled participants to interact and find common interests, as well as informal discussions over lunch in the scenic surroundings of the winery.

The day concluded with Hanukkah candle-lighting and a discussion of plans for the coming year, laying the foundation for continued scientific exchange and the development of new interdisciplinary collaborations within the Chrom@Tech community. This first retreat sets the stage for future Chrom@Tech activities, and we are already looking forward to our next gathering.

The event was supported by the THHI as part of its ongoing efforts to foster cross-campus academic communities focused on major challenges in the realm of human health. Chrom@Tech is one of the emerging communities formed within this framework.
