Technion Human Health Initiative

The THHI Building

The THHI for Transformative Biomedical Sciences and Engineering is a new research building for collaborative research in the realms of Human Health, Biomedical Sciences and Engineering.

Within the new building, each team will receive, share and collectively manage a common Lab space, composed of ‘zones’ grouped by experimental requirements (chemistry, biology, biotechnology, physics/engineering, theory/computation), with investigators (resident, new and limited time guests) allocated spaces in the different zones according to their specific and changing needs, and with students and support staff seated in shared common spaces.

We view this layout as one that fosters truly collaborative research of scientists and engineers from different disciplines, does away with the physical boundaries associated with traditional, investigator- ‘owned’ spaces, allows for pooling of infrastructure, instrumentation and expertise and offers huge flexibility in face of changing research needs and team compositions.

In addition, each floor and the building at large will include public spaces aimed at promoting interactions and collaborations, internal and external.

Public Areas

Each floor will include

  • An entrance foyer and central lobby
  • A seminar /meeting room
  • A kitchenette and dining area
  • A small balcony
